Defamation

Defamation
You can sue any person or organization that has publicly lied about you or your organization. You can also sue any person or organization that was involved in or in any way assisted or encouraged the creation or publication of that lie.

Types of Defamation
1. Slander: Defaming you verbally
Slander is when some person or organization verbally communicates something about you or your organization to others that is untrue and harms either your or your organization’s reputation.

Remedies:

If you have been slandered, you can:
1.1 Immediately force the liar(s) to shut up via a Cease and Desist Court Order;
1.2 And then you can sue them for the damage their lies have caused.

2. Libel: Defaming you in Writing
Libel is when some person or organization writes something about you or your organization that is not true or harms you or your organization’s reputation.

Remedies:
If you have been libeled, you can:
2.1 Immediately force the liar(s) to shut right up via a Cease and Desist Court Order;
2.2 And then you can sue the liars for the damage their lies have caused.

3.1 Cyber-Libel
Cyber-libel occurs when a person or organization posts online or emails something about you or your organization that is not true or harms you or your business’s reputation on the Internet.
Many individuals and businesses that are cyber-libeled believe the perpetrators are unreachable, hidden somewhere out there on the vast internet. However, that is no longer true. Million-dollar judgments have recently been awarded by Canadian courts against individuals or organizations who persisted in defaming others and their businesses on the internet.
